Let’s get right to the point – snickers. And not just any snickers, but a decadent homemade snickers. That is what has brought me to the world’s highest restaurant (Guinness cosign). Which is naturally located on the 122nd floor of the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, UAE. The views are stunning and the surroundings are luxurious, but it is the impeccable cocktails, attentive staff and the spot-on snickers dessert that will certainly bring me back to At.mosphere.
So here it is, the holy grail of desserts that I have travelled far and wide for. A home made snickers bar (AED 120 / $40)*. Composed of light mousse, peanut, caramel ice cream and of course chocolate. Look at it, sitting there glittering with gold like a treasure from the heavens above. I will only tell you this, it was as flawless in taste as it was in visual presentation.
I sat in the Lounge in the Burj Khalifa, which offers a smaller, snack size version of the full restaurant’s menu. Another highlight from my meal were the the lobster tacos (AED 120 / $40)* topped with guacamole, julienne vegetables, and spicy asian dressing, they were light, refreshing and completely satisfying.
Now what would a trip to a sky high lounge be without booze? Throughout the night I had the pleasure of sampling a variety of At.mospere’s signature and classic cocktails, and here are the ones that stood out.
Bourbon, vermouth, aromatic bitters AED 90 / $30*
Cognac, crème de cacao, half and half, nutmeg AED 90 / $30*
Hennessy Paradis substitution AED 450 / $150*
Bourbon, Peychaud’s bitters, Absinthe, sugar AED 90 / $30*
Gold Leaves, créme de cassis, Ruinart Brut Champagne AED 175 / $58*
Although the snacks and desserts are worth travelling for, the drinks really are the foundation of the At.mosphere experience. They are not cheap, far from it, but they do provide pleasure in the midst of undeniable ambience.
If you are looking for a reason to splurge, grab a loved one and book a window seat at the lounge. It is truly worth it. You will thank yourself later.
