Blended naturally into the hillside Poble Sec neighbourhood of Barcelona, is the cities latest boutique offering – Hotel Brummell. A beautifully designed, Sri Lankan inspired, urban oasis. Featuring a beautiful mix of modern furnishings and European antiques, complimented by a balance of open space and natural lighting. The hotel lobby’s concrete floors and unique art promote a gallery feel, yet the personal touches, inviting interior and comfort oriented rooms will make you feel right at home.
The creatively designed 20 room project has two penthouses, street and mountain facing views along with numerous apartment style accommodations. The outdoor lounge and pool area has zen like qualities which invite you to slow down and relax. Soak in the sun, take a dip, enjoy some refreshments at your own leisure. The tranquil terrace overlooks the relaxed courtyard below which houses the lobby’s contemporary bistro The Box Social.
Natural and organic ingredients are heavily present (they are literally grown on the first floors terrace) in Chef Damien Bolger’s mouth-watering menu. Enjoy breakfast, late night drinks and everything in between while embracing Brummell’s cozy ambience. Large potted plants, stone tiled flooring, marble table tops, copper accents and the buildings original wood doors compose a pleasant courtyard atmosphere.
There’s a lot to love about this place. The fresh feel, friendly staff, local surroundings and New York styled fire escapes. The amenities are also intriguing, including a sauna, vintage gym, bike rentals and a partnership with neighbouring yoga studio THE GARAGE. Brummell engages city participation with weekly running groups and also supports local artists through their adjacent gift shop. It’s a small world wrapped up in a big city.
Brummell defines a vision, and encompasses the transformation of an abandoned 1870’s building to a modern revitalization of historic Barcelona. You are invited to stay in or alternatively, step outside and experience the neighbourhood which gives the hotel it’s charm. Hike the mountain, bike to the city centre or walk to the beach. You really can’t ask for three better choices to dictate your day.
